| Homecoming for Kat, and the end of our year-long arc! Seriously, that was much longer in the doing than I intended—but I hope you liked it. A word about the roll-sack Kat's carrying in panel one: I almost got rid of it because, although I've known she had it the whole time, I couldn't find one picture of it the whole series! I went back to several strips where I was sure she was carrying it, and it just wasn't there. Well, whatever—it was there from the beginning, just off-screen. Anyway, I'll just say breifly that this is growing time for me as a cartoonist. I've had the last year to decide if I can keep doing this at all, and I'm still swinging. Thing is, I have a lot of bad habits that need correction—and now I know what at least a few of them are...but old habits are hard to change. Starting with next strip, I hope to bring things to a new standard. It's already begun, with hopefully clearer printing and tighter control over character perspective...I just have to remind myself to go one day at a time, and to remember that, although cartoonists tend to wretch and faint over these problems, most people don't notice. |
